A treat instead of a treatment….
….wasn’t that the old Camel slogan? In any event, that thought came to mind as I read the latest posting about the health benefits of grass fed beef.
I sometimes wonder if we don’t overdo this wellness stuff to the detriment of consumer acceptance. After all, spinach has never been able to overcome the stigma of “eat it, it’s good for you” even with the help of Popeye!
As always happens when we put out a new offering of meat, we get a spate of rave reviews. Everything from “my husband said that was the best roast we’ve ever had” to “my husband and I agree that was the best tongue we’ve ever had”. So we don’t think you need to compromise on taste to eat grass fed beef.
Having said that, we also know that a number of our customers have found us because of concerns about their health. We have, among our buyers, recovering heart and cancer patients and several who have food allergies and could never eat beef until now.
When people tell us they’ve cut down on red meat, we take a breath and then gently tell them that they’re making a mistake….red meat, grass fed red meat, is exactly what they should be eating plenty of. (We’re not fussy about prepositions when we’re talking)
